The future of job descriptions isn’t a human column and an AI column. It’s something more interesting than that.
Your role in the future will include clear accountability for outcomes - with an expectation that you have not just one, but many AI agents supporting you. Whether you build them or they already exist in the organization, you’re responsible for managing them, directing them, and standing behind their output.
That means when something goes wrong with a customer deliverable that an AI produced, it’s on you. Not the AI. You.
That accountability shift is real and coming fast. And it requires skills most of us haven’t had to develop before:
How do you delegate clearly to an AI?
How do you review a work product and give useful feedback?
How do you catch when something has gone sideways before it reaches the customer?
These are new leadership skills. And as organizational leaders, one of our most important jobs right now is helping our teams build them.
We’re all supervisors now. The question is whether we’re ready to lead that way.
