Are Your AI Vendors Putting Your Company At Risk?

How vulnerable is your AI strategy to vendor changes?

If you can’t switch agent platforms or swap LLMs in days (not months) you’re more exposed than you think.

The AI market’s still the Wild West. I expect 80% of today’s AI vendors to disappear over the next 2–3 years through mergers, acquisitions, or just shutting down.

That’s why I’m cautious about going all-in on agent platforms provided by LLM vendors. You’re making a big vendor bet at the exact moment the long-term leaders haven’t really shaken out yet.

What I see working instead is simple: build agents that are platform-agnostic. Avoid getting hooked on deep, proprietary tools. Design for portability from day one.

In practice, that means you can point at OpenAI for this task, Claude for that one, Gemini for another - and swap between them without drama. It means your agent framework can move to a different platform when you need it to.

Teams leaning heavily into Copilot or other single-vendor environments? They’re locking themselves in right when flexibility matters most.

I get it - those platforms promise simplicity. But that convenience comes with a cost. When your entire AI strategy is tied to one vendor and that vendor pivots, you’re suddenly rebuilding from scratch.
